Programs
Each year, we serve over 16,000 women, girls, and families with the
following programs:
- Chemical Health (CH): Six programs serve women struggling with chemical
dependency issues:
- Assessments provides an evaluation of a client's drug or alcohol
problem as well as recommendations for treatment.
- The Co-Occurring Disorders Program treats women
suffering from both chemical addiction and mental illness.
- Effecting Positive Change provides
enhanced services for up to 12 months to women with children and
women who are pregnant. Services are provided by an LADC, a Case
Manager and a Maternal Child Health Nurse.
- GROW serves adult women who
are referred for a Hennepin County Drug Treatment Program. Services include assessment, individual, family and group
counseling, case management, parenting support, acupuncture, and aftercare.
- The Step Down Program is designed to
help women completing primary treatment.
- Thunder Spirit Center provides therapy
and supportive services for children and
mothers affected by Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), which
includes Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and Fetal Alcohol Effects.
- Family Education (Divorce Education): The county-required workshops
Shared Parenting for parents and Sandcastles for children help families
work through the practical and emotional aspects of divorce.
- Kids' Cocoon Child Care: Our on-site licensed child care center is
available for both parents receiving services at Chrysalis and for the
larger community.
- Legal Assistance for Women (LAW): Through legal advice clinics and
information sessions, volunteer attorneys provide professional legal
assistance to women with family law concerns such as divorce, child
support, custody or paternity issues. The Pro Bono Safety Project has
helped hundreds of low-income battered women receive Orders for Protection (OFP)
against their abusers.
- Mental Health Clinic (MHC): Eighteen therapists, a psychiatrist, and
two clinical nurse specialists with prescriptive privileges provide therapy to clients who
suffer from a variety of mental illnesses including chronic and major
depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorders and others. Group,
individual, family, couples and DBT therapy are available.
- Professional and Community
Education: Professional Education provides
workshops and other learning opportunities to mental and chemical health
professionals on health related topics. Community Education offers
important classes that inform and educate women on a variety of topics.
- Resources & Referrals: Highly trained volunteers provide referrals
and information over the phone and in person about a wide range of
community resources including support groups, therapists, legal
assistance, housing programs, domestic violence centers, medical and
vocational assistance and other vital services.
- Support Groups: Our range of support groups presented throughout the
metro area helps women of all ages work through serious issues and learn
new skills to change harmful patterns and build healthy relationships.
- Tax Clinic: Available beginning in early February, Tax Clinic helps
low-income men and women file state and federal tax returns. This service
is offered free of charge.
- Tubman Family
Alliance: A leader in family violence prevention services, find
out about programs offered at Tubman sites.
Chrysalis and Tubman have a combined staff of 170 full, part-time and
contract employees However, those who donate their time are the backbone
of the agency: more than 800 volunteers provide
services at Tubman & Chrysalis.
