Registration required for all LAW Clinics.
$20 per clinic. $15 if you prepay. Free for women who meet low-income guidelines.

Clients are seen in the order they arrive.

Family Law Clinic

The Family Law Clinic offers a woman a chance to meet with a volunteer lawyer for 30 minutes to discuss her family law issue.

Issues for Family Law Clinic:

Divorce
Parenting plans (custody and parenting time)
Child support
Domestic abuse
Paternity
Post-divorce matters
Property disputes

Lavender Law Clinic

In the Lavender Law Clinic, meet with a volunteer lawyer familiar with following legal issues faced by lesbian, bisexual and transgender women:

Partnership agreements
Domestic abuse
Joint property and debt
Wills, powers of attorney, guardianships, health care directives
Uncoupling/loss of a partner
Child custody and parenting time
Child support
Adoption

Employment Law Clinic

An opportunity for women to meet privately with a lawyer for legal advice about work issues, including:

Job discrimination and harassment
Background checks and drug, alcohol, and medical tests
Personnel records
Minimum wage and overtime
Family and medical leave
Workers' compensation for injuries at work
Being fired and wrongful termination
Unemployment benefits

Legal Advice Available

Volunteer lawyers explain legal rights and options, review documents, and provide legal advice. Volunteer lawyers do not sign or draft documents, provide on-going legal representation, or make court appearances for LAW Clinic clients.

Location & Schedule

Evening appointments are available in St. Paul, Bloomington, St. Louis Park, and Minneapolis. Morning appointments are available at the Minneapolis site only. Lavender LAW Clinics are held monthly in Minneapolis. For directions to Law Clinic sites, call 612-871-0118, and select option 5.
