Co-Occurring Disorders Outpatient Treatment Program for Women

The Co-Occurring Disorders Program is a 90-hour outpatient program that serves women who have both a chemical dependency and a mental health diagnosis. It is the only women-centered program in the metropolitan area that addresses both diagnoses simultaneously.

Two program tracks are available: the High Intensity Day Program and the Low Intensity Evening Program.

Both include:

Most women will need a chemical health assessment to enter the program. These can be done on site at Chrysalis. We also accept referrals made by assessors from other agencies.

On-site child care is available during program hours.

There are various payment options for service.

High Intensity Day Program

This program is designed for women who benefit from frequent program contact and a program with a great deal of structure. This 90-hour, daytime program meets 4 times a week for 10 consecutive weeks. All women are required to attend at least 2 Twelve Step or Women for Sobriety meetings weekly.

Low Intensity Evening Program

This program is designed for women who need evening services or who would benefit from programming that meets less frequently. Women attend the 90-hour program 3 evenings per week for 13 consecutive weeks. All women are required to attend at least 2 Twelve Step or Women for Sobriety meetings weekly.

Aftercare Program

Chrysalis offers a 12-week aftercare program for women who complete the Co-Occurring Disorders program. Limited space is available for women who complete a primary treatment program outside of Chrysalis. There is a day and an evening group and both include:

  • Weekly group meetings
  • Individual sessions with the Aftercare Counselor and Mental Health Therapist
  • Medication maintenance services

Medication Evaluation and Management

Psychiatric services (medication evaluation and management) are an integral part of this program and include:

  • An initial psychiatric assessment to determine medication needs
  • On-going medication management
  • Coordination for clients already under the care of an outside psychiatrist

Parenting groups

All women in a parenting role participate in weekly on-site parenting groups throughout primary and aftercare programs. Parenting groups are taught by Parent Educators from Washburn Child Guidance Center and are held on-site at Chrysalis. Home visits and individual sessions are also available with the parenting program.
